  • Windemere becomes the 80th Member of LIRA

  • The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approves the $2M Invasive Plant Species Management Program. The IPSMP is a grant program intended to drive public awareness and a change in consumer behavior through the removal of invasive plants in high visibility locations. The hope is that the program will result in big box stores and nurseries stopping the sale of invasive plants, and residents taking matters into their own hands in their backyards, once they are aware of the issues associated with invasive plants.

  • The Loudoun Board of Supervisors approves the Loudoun Running Bamboo Ordinance, joining Fairfax, Fauquier and Stafford counties as the fourth Virginia county to put the law into place.

  • Spring Grove Farm from the Sterling District becomes HOA #70 to join LIRA. Two years to the day after Ashburn Village became the first member.

  • The 2nd Annual Scrape for the Grape concludes, with ~6.5 million Spotted Lanternfly eggs destroyed at 19 locations (including 12 Wineries, 6 HOAs and Ida Lee Park) by over 800 volunteers!

  • Invasive Plant Species Bill (HB1941) signed into law, which will require retailers to add signage if they sell invasive plants.

  • The Loudoun BOS approved an allocation of $2M from the General Fund Balance for an Invasive Plant Species Management Program (IPSMP).

2023

  • The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors granted approval for a $250,000 allocation to assess the project.

  • Obtained signatures of 27 Homeowner Associations, encompassing over 190,000+ residents of Loudoun County to be presented during the upcoming Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Meeting on October 17th, 2023.

  • The Ashburn Village Board passes the motion to become the first member of LIRA.

  • HOA Landscaping Committee leads and residents from Ashburn Village, Cascades, Countryside, Lansdowne, One Loudoun and Potomac Green conceive the concept for LIRA.
