Upcoming Loudoun Invasives Removal Events
Help Make Our Community Healthier
Today, only about 5–10% of Loudoun residents can name a single invasive plant—and that’s a big part of the problem. We’re not going to solve this issue by throwing money at it. In fact, there isn’t enough funding in all of Virginia to fully eliminate invasive plants from Loudoun County. The real solution starts with public awareness.
That’s where the Invasive Plant Species Management Program (IPSMP) and the Loudoun Grant Program come in—to accelerate public education and engagement.
But you don’t have to wait. LIRA members (Loudoun Invasive Removal Alliance) host volunteer invasive plant removal events almost every month. These hands-on events are a fantastic way to:
Learn how to identify invasive species
Understand best practices for removal and treatment
Discover beautiful native plants to use instead
Find out which plants to avoid buying (yes, invasive species are still sold at big-box stores and nurseries)
Gain the skills to make a difference in your own backyard
Even better—it's fun, it’s great exercise, and it's a wonderful way to connect with your community and explore parts of Loudoun you might not otherwise visit.
Ready to take action? Sign up for a volunteer event today and help restore Loudoun’s natural landscapes!
